Interested in yoga but don’t know where to begin? Let us help you start your journey! Learn terminology, etiquette, and how to use props. Practice basic postures with step-by-step instructions, focusing on proper alignment and breath awareness along with modifications of postures. There will be opportunity to ask questions and receive one-on-one assistance with the poses. Interest, and comfortable clothing that lets you move, are the only requirements. Limited to 10 students. Early registration recommended.

LOVE YOURSELF: RESTORATIVE YOGA & MASSAGE

Staying healthy is a practice that starts with turning your attention towards yourself, embracing where you are, and then acting on your findings, repeatedly. Come check-in with yourself through long held supported yoga poses while receiving deeper relaxation through therapeutic massage. There will be two yoga/massage sessions with a brief break in between for a conversation about how to support your health during the winter season drawing on the Chinese 5-element theory and Ayurveda.

Rachel is a certified Shiatsu and Traditional Thai Massage practitioner. Her practice at artfullhands.com integrates Traditional Thai massage, Shiatsu and Acupressure to help bodies heal themselves.

RELIEF FROM JAW TENSION THROUGH YOGA & MINDFULNESS

Do you clench your jaw, or grind your teeth at night?  This workshop is for you!  Jaw Tension and TMJ or TMD – Temporal Mandibular Joint Dysfunction, is a very common and often painful condition. It can be a factor in many conditions including headaches, sinusitis, sciatica, digestive and hormonal disorders. At present there are few options for treatment beyond being fitted for a night guard by your dentist. In this workshop you will learn the causes and repercussions of TMD, simple self-massage techniques to relax the face and jaw, mindfulness practices, and a yoga asana sequence that can bring relief.  This is a unique approach developed from working with more than one hundred clients over many years.

Cator is a Yoga Therapist & E-RYT 500 Yoga Alliance instructor. She completed yoga teacher training through both the Iyengar Yoga Institute of SF & Kripalu Yoga Center. She is a Mindfulness teacher, and a practitioner of Visionary Craniosacral Bodywork through the Milne Institute. Cator has taught Yoga & mindfulness meditation to both adults and youth in SF since 1995, and has a private practice of Craniosacral Bodywork working with adults, children, & infants – www.catorshachoy.com .  She is the founder of Youth Yoga Dharma, and has trained teachers since 2005 – www.youthyogadharma.org

Looking to start or restart your yoga practice? Join us for a one-day refresher. We’ll cover: props and how they support you, breathing exercises and breath/movement coordination, basic postures with a focus on foundations and proper alignment, and modifications of postures to make them work for you. No experience necessary. This workshop will help prepare you to join an ongoing class with confidence.
